Dystopia

Work-In-Progress
Goldie wants nothing more than to claw out the memories of what happened on that island five years ago from her mind, but she can’t. Almost every night, she sees the Captain of the Militia chopping her father’s head off. Almost every night she dreams that vultures are picking her bones clean. The terror of knowing for sure she was going to die has never quite left her.
But she didn’t die.
She survives the island and makes a new life for herself at The Diamond Doll. Inside The Doll, a swanky brothel catering to the demi-wealthy, it’s a party every night. Goldie doesn’t have to do anything more than serve drinks, clean, and admire the men and women who breeze in and out.
Then, on the night of her fifteenth birthday, everything comes crashing down when she sees the Captain downstairs drinking with his men.The Militia has finally returned to the city after a five-year absence. As the Captain’s steel grip on her tightens, and everything she loves is once more stripped away, Goldie plots her escape.
But she’s forgotten that the outside world is just as terrifying as the one inside.
